There are many opportunities for families to participate and give time to the preschool. We encourage family participation as that makes us a stronger school. Each classroom has Room Parents who coordinate various classroom holiday celebrations, communicate classroom news as needed, and act as liaisons between teachers and class parents in planning events. In addition, parents can volunteer to chaperone field trips, lead a committee for a special event, be a “mystery” reader in the classroom, come in to “teach” a special lesson, and more.
Rock Spring Preschool focuses on creating a sense of community among our families. We do this through periodic family events such as: Fall Family Potluck Dinner, Supper with Santa, Parent Appreciation Week, and classroom celebrations throughout the school year.
All children participate in a Christmas program (music and drama) and a spring program/PreK Graduation. This is a wonderful opportunity to develop confidence and poise in children by “performing” in a relaxed, safe, nurturing environment. Our programs are “low stress” and fun for everyone.
Children attend chapel once a week on Wednesdays. During chapel, we present Bible stories, life lessons, songs and character traits in an age-appropriate manner.
Most mornings, all students and teachers come together for “gathering time.” What a joy to be together as a school to learn about the “letter of the week”, American Sign Language, character traits, Bible verse of the month, celebrate birthdays and special occasions, and dance and sing in music class.
